The Philosophy of Uniqueness

Autors:
Poroshenko Olga Yu., Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering
Abstract:

The article is devoted to the actualization of the principle of uniqueness for methodology in philosophy and epistemology. This is due to the fact that no attention is paid to the uniqueness in scientific discourse. However, if general and universal could be the necessary results of cognition for the natural science, then for humanities the heuristic status of uniqueness should become the aim of research at least due to the fact of the uniqueness of a human being and personality in the context of anthropology. The methodological foundations in cognition of unique in the humanities need to be described and explained. The aim of the article is to give the analysis of different interpretations of such terms as "single", "special", "unique", and "individual" in the context of classic ontology (monadology), epistemology (neo-kantianism), sociology (marxism), system theory, existentialism, analytical philosophy and postmodernism. The main conclusion of the article consists in the universality of principle of uniqueness which could be applied both to the natural phenomena, cultural invariants, and to the human personality. The importance of the principle of uniqueness in society, culture and personality within the globalization process significantly increases. Philosophy and epistemology of uniqueness become the necessary approaches to save single, special, individual in the world of common, universal and homogeneous.
