Professional dynasty as an issue of social and psychological research
The introduction provides the insight into transformation of medical profession in modern society, which has its pros and cons. The disadvantages include the risk of losing the experience and knowledge accumulated by previous generations and human resources crisis within healthcare settings. These risks can be minimized through supporting the social institution of professional medical dynasties and studying its social and psychological factors. The theoretical analysis summarizes the findings of the research into dynasty phenomenon and its specific position within the healthcare field. The analysis of the studies revealed the lack of the structured information on formation principles and social and psychological factors of professional dynasty in the medical professions. The author suggests defining professional dynasties in social psychology as specific social groups that can be formed on the basis of complex, multidimensional system of intergenerational, primordial (consanguineous), cultural, historical and professional occupational connections. The results and conclusions highlight the topicality of the research into social and psychological factors in generating the necessary motivation in the next generation to continue their parents’ medical professions; social and psychological mechanisms of transferring professional experience and ways of psychological tolerance to emotional burnout in the dynasties of doctors.
