Negative Social Communications

Pavlova Natalia V., Saratov State University

The article discusses the process of social communication in terms of its negative effect on human existence. The author conceptualizes the idea of negative social communication in the context of postmodernism and claims that an increased number of social interactions in postmodern society can be harmful for the nature of communication. The author believes that postmodern society should be considered as a system of social flows, unlike the previous paradigm (i.e. modernity). To explore the complex phenomenon of negative social communication the author analyzes social flows functioning as the social objects of negative communication, their mechanisms and effects. It is shown that among the factors which contribute to the process of negative communication in postmodern reality, the social objects of communication seem to be the most significant; so these objects of negative influence are divided into categories and analyzed in details. The author concludes with reference to the damaging impact of negative social communication on a person who is involved in this process.
