Spiritual leadership and the state of organizational culture

Abstract: 

Introduction. The article explores the relationship between the socio-psychological and spiritual characteristics of an organization’s leader and the state of its organizational culture. The theoretical part of the article analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations of the conducted empirical research. The author examines the key provisions of the order approach to the socio-psychological study of the phenomenon of organizational culture, including models and definitions. It is noted that the order understanding of organizational culture focuses on its ethical content, which, in turn, is an integral part of the phenomenon of spirituality. The empirical study is of a pilot nature and is carried out in a qualitative paradigm. The purpose of the research is to study the interdependence between the spiritual qualities of a leader and the state of the corporate culture of an organization. Research methods: assessment of the severity of organizational culture suborders; soteriological assessment of the level of leadership development; questionnaire; interviewing; case analysis; enabled monitoring. Conclusion. The results showed that the balanced development of all three suborders (“family”, “army”, “church”) and attention to the soteriological characteristics of the leader significantly increase the effectiveness of the organization. The conclusion is made about spiritual leadership as a key factor contributing to the harmonization of organizational culture suborders and the creation of a positive atmosphere in the organization. The study confirms that spirituality is essential for the stable and successful functioning of a company.
