Abstract:

Theoretical analysis. The features of improper parental upbringing in the form of domestic violence and psychological well-being of a personality (in the context of its psychological sovereignty) in adulthood are considered. Empirical analysis. Objective: to study the connection between the characteristics of sovereignty of the psychological space of the personality and the peculiarities of dysfunctional relations in the parental family in youth age subjects. Participants: 136 subjects aged 18–28 years (male = 60%, female = 40%) ((M = 23.4; SD = 2.6)) who experienced domestic violence in childhood and/or adolescence. The study was conducted in an online format using the Yandex Forms service. Methods: to study family dysfunctions in the parental family we used the questionnaire “Family Emotional Communications” (A. B. Kholmogorova, S. V. Volikova, M. G. Sorokova); to study the sovereignty of the psychological space of the individual – the questionnaire “Sovereignty of the Psychological Space” (S. K. Nartova-Bochaver). Hypothesis: the characteristics of the sovereignty of the psychological space of the personality are connected with the peculiarities of dysfunctional relations in the parental family in youth age persons. Novelty of the study. The connection of dysfunctional relations in the parental family with the sovereignty of the psychological space of the adult personality is shown. Conclusion. Upbringing in a dysfunctional family that uses various types of violence towards the child distorts his/her personal development in the long term, deforming the system of self-relations and personal boundaries.
