The communicative essence of choreography as a unity of social and existential dimensions
Introduction. The article explores choreography as a multidimensional phenomenon that synthesizes the social and existential aspects of human existence. The authors view dance not merely as a sequence of movements but as a complex communicative act that connects individual self-expression with collective experience. Theoretical analysis. The social dimension of choreography is analyzed through the lens of transmitting cultural codes, rituals, and the formation of group identity. Simultaneously, the existential component of dance is examined, with emphasis on issues of authenticity, freedom of choice, and bodily being in the world. The methodological foundation of the work is based on the concepts of existentialism (Heidegger, Sartre) and communication theory (Habermas). Additionally, the analysis incorporates Bourdieu’s concept of cultural capital and Marx’s materialist concept, in the context of which choreography is seen as a product of dominant economic conditions. Empirical analysis. The socio-philosophical understanding of choreography offers a new perspective on dance as an integral anthropological experience in the unity of its social and bodily practices. Particular attention is paid to the dialectics of interaction between the individual and collective elements in dance practice. Conclusion. The conclusion is drawn that choreography serves as a unique communicative space where personal existential experience gains social significance, and collective forms are filled with individual content.
