Abstract:

Introduction. There is a scientifically and socially grounded need to identify the personal factors that contribute to emotional burnout in IT specialists in order to develop effective methods for its prevention and overcoming. Theoretical analysis. Personality factors play a significant role in the development of emotional burnout in IT specialists; however, an analysis of modern research shows that they have not been sufficiently defined. Empirical analysis. The empirical study was conducted using the following instruments: “Professional Burnout Questionnaire for IT Specialists” (N. E. Vodopyanova, E. V. Patrakov, L. G. Buguliev), “Five-Factor Personality Questionnaire, 5PFQ” (H. Tsuji, adapted by A. B. Khromov), “Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale” (P. L. Hewitt, W. Mittelstaedt, R. Wollert, adapted by I. I. Gracheva), “Style of SelfRegulation of Behavior” (V. I. Morosanova, N. G. Kondratyuk), “Scale of Intolerance to Uncertainty” (M. H. Freeston, J. Rhéaume, H. Letarte, M. J. Dugas, R. Ladouceur, adapted by A. Sh. Tkhostov, A. S. Nelyubina, A. A. Razlutsky, A. M. Merzlyakova). The role of personality predictors in the development of emotional burnout in IT specialists was identified. These predictors form two clusters: burnout risk factors and protective factors. The components of intolerance to uncertainty and neuroticism demonstrate the strongest correlation with burnout indicators. Regulatory competencies act as a buffer against burnout. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that intolerance to uncertainty and a lack of self-regulation skills are core, cross-cutting predictors that significantly determine the development of burnout syndrome as a whole. Conclusion. Based on empirical data a model of professional burnout in IT specialists is proposed.
