Post-secular trends in the modern socio-cultural space of Russia

Abstract:

Introduction. The issue of assessing the increasing influence of religion on socio-cultural and political processes is relevant and under discussion at the moment. There are both supporters and opponents of the term “postsecular” introduced into scientific discourse by Jurgen Habermas at the beginning of the 20th century. The problem in this case lies in the fact that it is not the very possibility of the term’s existence that needs to be assessed, but the assessment of the manifestation of desecularization processes in individual societies. The aim of the work is to identify distinctive post-secular trends and their features in the socio-cultural space of Russia in comparison with global trends. Theoretical analysis. In the process of research activities the principle of historicism was used, on the basis of which the phenomena characterizing the processes of secularization and desecularization and the formation of a post-secular society were considered. Historical-comparative and problematic-chronological methods were used. The novelty of the research lies in the identification of a special historical path of secularization of the society in Russia with the subsequent manifestation of distinctive post-secular trends in modernity. Conclusion. In the course of the analysis of philosophical and historical sources, the direct connection between the phenomenon of postsecularity and the cultural and scientific context of the epoch and the phenomenological tradition of Russia has been established.
