Abstract:

The article discusses the peculiarities of the perception of the information presented in the modern Russian electronic mass media. The data were collected through the interviews with 503 students of economic universities of Saratov and Moscow in the time period from 2011 to 2013. The survey maintains that for a younger audience (aged between 17 and 24 years) the information obtained from the Internet resources is the main source of information; along with that, the level of confidence in this information is constantly decreasing. Personal sets are thought to predetermine the information perception process and social sets (attitudes) are believed to take part in the regulation of a social behavior of a person. The term «Internet-mediated communicative behavior» is proposed to describe the behavior of «linguistic person» – Internet user. It is concluded that, modern electronic communication is a social phenomenon that can be studied as a field of manifestation of personal and social sets (attitudes) of recipients; inconsistency in the set mechanism action may cause the decline of confidence in the information that young recipients get from their monitors.
